Danton Whitley Sr. Is Turning the Power of Words Into Music With MANTRAS
Acclaimed singer, songwriter and recording artist Danton Whitley Sr. is challenging listeners to pay closer attention to the words they speak, the thoughts they believe and the life they are creating.
There is music you listen to, and then there is music that becomes part of the conversation you have with yourself.
For Danton Whitley Sr., that distinction is at the heart of his latest musical chapter.
Released August 25, 2026, MANTRAS is Danton’s latest EP, bringing together faith, self reflection, confidence, growth and purpose through a compelling fusion of gospel, R&B, soul and urban sounds.
Rather than simply creating songs for listeners to hear, Danton is using music to explore the power of words and what can happen when people become intentional about what they speak over themselves.
“Words have power,” says Danton. “What we speak over ourselves matters. What we believe matters. Sometimes you have to change the conversation you are having with yourself.”
That philosophy is woven throughout MANTRAS, a project that introduces what Danton calls his signature approach, “New Nostalgia.”
The concept combines the familiarity of soulful music with a contemporary and progressive sound, creating music that can feel both recognizable and new.
“It feels like something you remember and something you’ve never heard at the same time,” Danton says.
Danton’s personal journey is reflected throughout the project, particularly in the single “New,” a soulful gospel testimony about transformation, purpose and discovering a renewed relationship with God.
The song includes the affirmation, “You bring out the best in me. You made me new and showed me purpose.”
For Danton, those words carry a deeply personal meaning.
He explains that God revealed His love to him through his wife, Felicia Whitley, allowing him to see his relationship with God, himself and his purpose from a different perspective.
“God revealed His love to me through my wife, Felicia,” Danton says. “Through that love, He opened my eyes to who He is, who I am, and the purpose He has for my life. He truly made me new.”
That experience helped shape the larger message behind MANTRAS: becoming, growing and believing again.
The project asks listeners to consider an important question: What are you speaking over your own life?
With songs such as “Awakened,” “Godfidence,” “I Believe,” “All Good” and “Live ~ Grow,” Danton takes listeners through a musical journey that mirrors the process of personal transformation.
“Godfidence” explores the idea of confidence rooted in faith, while “I Believe” reinforces the importance of belief. “All Good” carries an encouraging perspective, and “Live ~ Grow” serves as a fitting reminder that growth is an ongoing process.
The EP also features collaborations with Darien Wright and Jermaine Williams Sr., adding additional voices and dimensions to Danton’s musical vision.
Rather than creating songs that simply tell listeners what to believe, Danton leaves room for listeners to find their own meaning in the music.
His goal is for people to hear something that connects with where they are in their own lives.
“My hope is that people don’t just listen to these songs, but find words in them that they can carry into their own journey,” he says.
Musically, Danton is also carving out his own lane.
His “New Nostalgia” approach allows him to draw from the sounds and influences that shaped him while refusing to simply recreate the past.
The result is music rooted in soul and gospel while embracing a modern sensibility.
That balance is particularly important to Danton because MANTRAS is both reflective and forward looking.
It honors where he has been while speaking directly to where he is going.
And perhaps that is why the project feels less like a traditional collection of songs and more like a soundtrack for a season of life.
The message behind MANTRAS centers on the power of words and the importance of being intentional about what we speak over ourselves.
People are surrounded by opinions, criticism, comparison and noise every day. Social media can amplify negativity, while personal setbacks can make it easy to question one's worth, direction or purpose.
Danton’s answer is not to ignore reality.
It is to change the words being spoken in the middle of it.
His music encourages listeners to make room for faith, possibility, confidence and growth.
That message is especially evident in the title MANTRAS, which represents the repeated words and affirmations that can shape the way people see themselves and their circumstances.
For Danton, those words are not empty declarations.
They are connected to faith and lived experience.
With MANTRAS, Danton Whitley Sr. is creating music for people who are navigating change, rediscovering their faith, pursuing purpose or simply trying to become a better version of themselves.
Each song contributes another piece to that larger journey.
“Awakened” opens the door. “Mental Stimulation,” featuring Darien Wright, adds another layer of reflection. “Put Ya Mind At Ease” offers a moment to pause, while “New” delivers Danton’s deeply personal testimony.
“Godfidence,” “Never Alone | A Father’s Love,” featuring Jermaine Williams Sr., “Endless Love,” “I Believe,” “All Good” and “Live ~ Grow” continue the journey through faith, love, confidence, belief and personal growth.
Together, the songs create a project that is personal to Danton while leaving space for listeners to make it personal to themselves.
Released August 25, 2026, MANTRAS continues to resonate with music lovers, connecting through its blend of soulful sounds, meaningful lyrics and a message centered on faith, affirmation, growth and purpose.
Now available on all digital streaming platforms, MANTRAS marks another chapter in Danton Whitley Sr.’s evolution as an artist and a man of faith.
The project introduces listeners to an artist who is not simply interested in making music that sounds good, but in creating music that means something.
His message is straightforward:
Become.
Grow.
Believe again.
Speak life.
And as Danton continues to evolve as an artist and a man of faith, MANTRAS offers a glimpse into the words he has chosen to carry with him.
Sometimes transformation begins with a decision.
Sometimes it begins with faith.
And sometimes it begins with simply changing the words you speak over your own life.
For Danton Whitley Sr., those words have become music.
